Who was Ravindra Kaushik and how did he end up as a spy?


On April 11, 1952, Ravindra Kaushik was born into a Brahmin family in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

He liked to act in theatre as a teenager, and the RAW caught him in the act.

Under the alias Nabi Ahmed Shakir, Kaushik was recruited by RAW at the age of 23 and dispatched on a covert mission to Pakistan.. All of his records were deleted in India.


It is thought that Kaushik learnt Urdu during his training and became familiar with Pakistani topography and Muslim holy books..

While in Pakistan, he graduated with an LLB from Karachi University. He was promoted to Major after enlisting in the Pakistani army as a commissioned officer.

Under the alias "The Black Tiger," he is said to have given crucial intelligence to the Indian defence forces between 1978 and 1983.In Pakistan, Ravindra was living a different life..

Kaushik fell in love with Amanat, a Pakistani woman, when he was there.. She was a Pakistan Army officer's daughter.. The two became more than simply friends and soon got married.

Under the alias Nabi Ahmed Shakir, Indian RAW agent Ravindra Kaushik, also referred to as "Black Tiger," entered Pakistan's army. He married Amanat, a Pakistani woman he fell in love with while working undercover, but he kept his true identity a secret even from her. They had a kid together, but in 1983, Kaushik's secret was discovered, which resulted in his detention and death in a Pakistani jail in 2001. Despite being characterised by sacrifice and secrecy, their love story is nevertheless a moving account of loyalty in the face of espionage.

Even after they were married, Amanat reportedly didn't know her spouse was a spy.. Areeb Ahmed Khan was the name of the couple's kid..


How did Ravindra get caught?


While being interrogated in Pakistan, another RAW operative is said to have unintentionally blown off his cover.. He was captured in 1983 and sentenced to death.He received a reduced sentence of life in prison.

While detained in Pakistan, he allegedly penned secret notes to his Indian relatives. The Indian government, however, would not accept them.


Kaushik spent sixteen years in prison in Mianwali following two years of intense torture at an interrogation facility in Sialkot.. According to reports, he was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and heart issues in 2001. But no one could save him, so he was left to die. And after that, he died at the New Central Multan Jail.

According to other reports, no one knows the whereabouts of his wife Amanat or their child.

While working secretly as Nabi Ahmed Shakir in Pakistan, Indian RAW spy Ravindra Kaushik, also known as "Black Tiger," wed Amanat, a Pakistani woman. They had a kid from their marriage, which was concealed from his true identity, but Kaushik's arrest in 1983 put an end to their union.

Ravindra Kaushik's family in India had severe financial and psychological difficulties following his detention in 1983. His father, retired Indian JM Kaushik, learnt about Ravindra's death in 2001. died of shock and heart failure while serving as an Air Force officer.. Amladevi, his mother, repeatedly pleaded with the Indian government for his release in letters to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other officials, but she never heard back.


In 2006, she passed away. The government gave the family a small pension, originally ₹500 a month, then ₹2,000, until Amladevi's passing, at which point it ceased. Based in Jaipur, Ravindra's nephew Vikram Vashisth and younger brother Rajeshwarnath Kaushik both requested official recognition for his sacrifice but bemoaned the government's lack of support or recognition. The whereabouts of Ravindra's wife, Amanat, and their son, Areeb Ahmed Khan, are still mostly unknown in Pakistan; there have been rumours that he may have passed away in 2012 or 2013.
