Football has ruined marriages five times

Football has ruined marriages five times.

Pep Guardiola

After 30 years of marriage, Pep  Guardiola is set to lose his wife   and probably half of a 126 million Euros  in divorce settlement. And all he had to   do to stop this was to end his stay  at Manchester City. But did he? No. These are 5 times that  Football has broken a marriage.

Now back to the Article! And of course we begin with Pep. Even  before Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool,   Pep had been getting ready to leave  Manchester City. We were aware that   relocating to the United Arab Emirates was one of  his goals. He wasn't going to renew his contact,   so many around him were starting to  say farewell.

He was becoming closer   to his wife as a result of his decision not to  renew. So when he decided to stay and extend his   contract out of the blue, Cristina decided enough  was enough and decided to end the marriage." And it’s obvious, Pep didn’t want to leave City  in the mess that they found themselves in this   season.

But is it worth breaking a 30 year  old marriage? Let us know in the comments?

Riyad Mahrez

A former player of his, Riyad Mahrez was  previously in a relationship with Rita   Johal after they met in 2012 in London. By  2015, they were married and had two beautiful   daughters. But then in 2019,  Mahrez suddenly left her. In an interview for The Sun, Johal has  said that the transfer to City was the   moment that changed her ex-husband,  turning him into a different person.

"The Riyad I knew is a different person than he  is now. He goes out to parties and acts like a   football star. … I'm shocked and saddened by what  he did." "He left me suddenly and moved into a   hotel. He said he was facing a lot of pressure  at Manchester City and wanted a bit of peace.

After that, Mahrez moved on and started dating  Taylor Ward, a fashion student and reality TV   star Dawn Ward’s daughter. They got engaged in  2021, and the footballer went all out with a   £400,000 engagement ring. Fast forward to 2024,  and they tied the knot in a dreamy wedding at   Lake Como’s Villa Balbiano, living it up with  friends and family in true celebrity style.

With Enzo Fernández, before joining Chelsea,  he was engaged with his childhood sweetheart,   Valentina Cervantes. They had been together  since they were teens and even have two kids.  The midfielder and model, Valentina, were engaged that same year after they initially met when she was 17 and he was 16. year but never marrying.

She moved from Argentina to Portugal with him when  he joined Benfica from River Plate, before then   also joining him when he sealed a record-breaking  transfer deal to Chelsea in January 2023. But in October 2024, Valentina revealed  on Instagram that they had split up. She   mentioned that Enzo had decided he wanted to “live  alone” and they agreed to go their separate ways.

Just when he had finally found  his feet at the club.

Sheesh

Sheesh  He and Valentina have kept things civil,   especially when it comes  to co-parenting their kids. In Victor Boniface’s case, his success in  football made him rethink his love life.   He met Norwegian model Rikke Hermine Jensen  in 2019 during his stint with FK Bodø/Glimt   in Norway.

Their relationship blossomed, and  Jensen accompanied Boniface as he moved across   clubs in Europe, including his time in Belgium  and later in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. Recently, rumors surfaced suggesting that  the couple's breakup was due to disagreements   over a prenuptial agreement.

Achraf Hakimi

Achraf Hakimi’s  divorce debacle seems to have opened his eyes. However, Boniface has publicly  dismissed these claims,   urging people to "stop posting fake information.

" As of now, the exact reasons  behind their separation remain   private, and both Boniface and Jensen have  chosen not to disclose further details. Now this next entry is a striker who got more  failed marriages than the national team goals.

Kevin-Prince Boateng

We are talking about Kevin-Prince Boateng.

His love life has been just as eventful   as his football career! Back in 2007, he  married his first wife, Jennifer Michelle,   and they had a son together,  Jermaine-Prince. And then   out of nowhere, he left her after he gained  popularity at the world cup in South Africa. Then, in the same year, Kevin started  dating Italian TV presenter and model   Melissa Satta.

These two were all over the  headlines, turning into one of football’s   favorite power couples. They got married  in 2016 and had a son, Maddox-Prince,   but after almost a decade together,  they went their separate ways in 2020.  Boateng made it clear that the reason  for their breakup was not at all a   betrayal but a very difficult moment for his  private life and especially for his career.

Fast forward to 2021, and Boateng fell head over  heels for Italian model Valentina Fradegrada.   These two didn’t just tie the knot; they had a  Metaverse wedding! Yup, as in a digital wedding!   But, just 14 months later, the couple split,  coinciding with Boateng retiring from football.
